Applied Sciences

Department of Applied Sciences is one of the indispensable departments of the Institute. It imparts excellent quality education in the area of Applied Sciences (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) and Humanities i.e., Communication skills for the future technocrats of all streams.

The department of Applied Sciences aims to provide a strong foundation in the fundamental sciences. Students of engineering are provided with the basic tools of analysis as well as the knowledge of the principles on which engineering is based.

The department also strives to instill the scientific temper and the spirit of enquiry in students. It encourages the students to understand and therefore apply the physical laws to the development of their fields of study. The Department has well equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Numerical analysis, and communication skills. The department provides its students with a number of opportunities to develop their overall personality by participating in the various cultural and co-curricular activities held throughout the year. The faculty members of the department take very active part in organizing these activities. The department has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty.

Civil Engineering

A civil engineer is responsible for planning and designing a project, constructing the project to the required scale, and maintenance of the product. A civil engineer requires not only a high standard of engineering knowledge but also supervisory and administrative skills. The planning part of their work involves site investigation, feasibility studies, creating solutions to complications that may occur and the actual designing of structures. They have to work with the guidelines of the local government authority and get plans approved by the relevant authority. They may prepare cost estimates and set construction schedules. Construction work involves dealing with clients, architects, government officials, contactors and the supervision of work according to standards. Their work also involves the maintenance and repair of the project.

The major specializations within civil engineering are structural, water resources, environmental, construction, transportation, geo-technical engineering etc. On most projects, civil engineers work in teams or in coordination with many other engineers. They can find work as a supervisor of a construction site or a managerial position or in design, research as well as teaching in government services or private concerns. They can also work as independent consultants

Electronics and Communication Engineering

Electronics is the branch of study that has revolutionized the life style of humanity. It is a pace setter and a prime mover behind the transition to a technological society. The field of Electronics and Communication Engineering encompasses all areas of human life. Radio, television, telephones, computers, automobiles, office machinery and house-hold appliances, life saving medical equipments and space vehicles represent a mere sample in the wide spectrum of application of Electronics. In the age of satellite transmitted television and transcontinental computer network, the challenge and opportunities in this profession continue to mushroom.

Electronics and Communication Engineering graduates have unlimited opportunities in the field of terrestrial and extra terrestrial communication systems like telephones, cellular phones, television, optical fiber communication, consumer and entertainment devices. Highly rewarding and greatly satisfying opportunities await the Electronics and Communication Engineers in the field of satellite space programs, embedded technologies etc.

Mechanical Engineering Department

The department of Mechanical Engineering strives to train students in the mechanical engineering science as well as application of these scientific methods to conceive, organize and carry out scientific design of engineering system.

The department's professional programme includes a deeper study of a number of engineering sciences to which the students are introduced at the core curriculum level, experimental solution of physical problems, techniques and method of design of systems relevant to the contemporary industrial world.

The broad areas include Energy Conversion and Power Systems, Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Solids and Stress Analysis, Manufacturing Science, Industrial Engineering, Automatic Controls and Engineering Design. Laboratory experience is considered to be an important part of the mechanical engineering programme. There are course oriented laboratories where the students do experimental work leading to a better understanding of physical situations.

Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Electrical engineering encompasses all devices and systems that operate electrically. Electrical engineers are integrally involved with the generation, distribution, and electromechanical use of electric power. They also design and produce general electronic circuits and their solid-state components such as integrated circuits and computer chips. Electrical engineering is the largest of all engineering disciplines. This is divided into heavy current (electrical machinery; generating stations and distribution systems) and light current (telecommunications, radar, computers etc.) With the increasing demand for electrical energy, the development in audio and video communication systems, and the automation in industry, electrical engineers have become indispensable to society today.

Virtually every industry utilizes electrical engineers, so employment opportunities are extensive. The work of electrical engineers can be seen in the microwave ovens in our Homes, in the computers used by business, in numerically controlled machines used by manufacturing companies. Electrical can follow careers in a wide range of areas. They may enter the fields of communications, computers, electronics, robotics, and biomedical electronics and signal processing, transportation, industrial process control, energy operation and distribution, and electro-mechanical energy conversion. Many electrical and computer engineering graduates also pursue careers in resource industries and manufacturing; examples include the chemical, pulp and paper, food, automobile and aircraft industries.

Computer Science & Engineering

This has been one of the most lucrative and competitive course to study since its inception in Indian engineering schools, colleges and universities. When India’s computer industry created mark in world of business and gained super trust and revenue for the nation it also created large amount of well paid jobs for Computer Engineering students.

Computer science and engineering students will learn about basic engineering techniques, as other engineering students, during first year course.

These techniques include Engineering Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and Engineering drawing. From second year they are exposed to core computer science subjects like programming, data structures, Digital logic, Theoretical computer science, Algorithms, Computer networks, Operating systems, Web technologies, Databases and Computer Architecture are few to mention.

This is really an excellent field to have opportunities both in software companies and higher studies. As computing is extensively applied to almost every walk of life it created massive jobs for Computer Engineering students. On the same time more demand and application kept it research funding alive attracting many students to opt for higher studies.
